Bringing more joy to dementia care
We’ve got some exciting news to share! The Together Project is officially partnering with the National Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme (NaDCAS) – and we’re thrilled to be their first-ever partnership. This collaboration will help us bring even more joy, connection and meaningful moments to people living with dementia in care homes across the UK.
Why this matters
Dementia can be incredibly isolating, but we know that social connection and creative activities can make a world of difference. That’s where The Together Project comes in. Our intergenerational programmes – from music to art – are designed to spark joy, encourage conversation and boost wellbeing for people living in care settings.
NaDCAS is leading the way in ensuring care homes offer the highest standards of dementia care. Their accreditation framework highlights the importance of engagement, social interaction and creative expression – all things we’re passionate about at The Together Project. By working together, we can help more care homes embed these best practices and create truly enriching experiences for their residents.
A perfect partnership
We've watched it happen time and time again the positive impact our intergenerational sessions have. Residents light up when babies and toddlers visit, familiar songs unlock memories and shared laughter builds connections that transcend age. Now, through our partnership with NaDCAS, we can spread these benefits even further. As our founder, Louise Goulden, puts it:
"I’ve had the privilege of seeing how much joy and confidence our sessions bring to people living with dementia. Partnering with NaDCAS means we can reach even more people, share what we’ve learned, and make sure that best practice is being used in communities across the UK."
And we’re not the only ones excited! Sam Dondi-Smith, Consultant Occupational Therapist and Senior Partner of NaDCAS, highlights the importance of meaningful engagement in care homes:
"We know that a well-run care home is about more than just meeting physical needs – it’s about creating an environment where people can continue to feel valued and engaged. Our partnership with The Together Project helps bring these principles to life in a way that is both practical and impactful."
What’s next?
This partnership is all about action. Through our collaboration with NaDCAS, we’ll be advocating for intergenerational activities as a key component of high-quality dementia care, with accredited care homes encouraged to incorporate these activities. We’re always looking for new care homes to get involved, so if you’re interested in bringing intergenerational joy to your residents, we’d love to hear from you!

Together, we’re making care homes brighter, happier places – one intergenerational moment at a time.
