Crafting Connections

Remember the penpal?

We reimagined pen-friendship as a fun and creative exchange that tackles social isolation by creating joyful, meaningful friendships across generations.

Crafting Connections is the arts & crafts exchange that pairs children with older adults in care settings. Each month, we provide participants with a crafting pack, and then both sides get to work on creating something that will delight and surprise their pen pal. The resulting friendships make for happier, kinder children and proud, connected older people.

The benefits of kindness

From the excitement of receiving post to learning that they’ve positively impacted another person’s life, Crafting Connections is full of feelgood moments that reward participants for thinking of others. With multiple studies showing the positive impacts of kindness on a person’s happiness, well-being and self-esteem, children are instilled with values that will last a lifetime, while older people are given purpose and an invaluable sense of connection.
