Supporting healthy ageing and care home communities

The Centre for Ageing Better's latest report, "The State of Ageing 2025," paints a challenging picture for older people across England, highlighting increased loneliness, health disparities, and inadequate housing. Based on these findings, it’s not a great leap to assume there is a rising need for high-quality care home spaces, as more older adults experience poor health and isolation.

At The Together Project, we know that creating strong intergenerational connections can directly improve the quality of life of residents living in care settings. Our programmes like Songs & Smiles and Crafting Connections not only combat loneliness but also significantly enhance emotional and physical wellbeing. Through joyful interactions with little ones and their grownups, our intergenerational activities bring communities closer, creating warmer, happier, and more connected care setting environments.

As the ageing population continues to grow and diversify, the demand for care home placements that offer meaningful social interactions and community connections will only rise. Our intergenerational initiatives uniquely address this need by ensuring that care homes and assisted living schemes become vibrant places of joy, engagement, and mutual support.

Let's continue to build care home communities where older people feel valued, connected, and happy.
